The topic for this year's essay is
The U.S Government Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In March 2020, the world realized we were faced with a global pandemic in the COVID-19 virus. Consider the response of the United States government and the State of Illinois. Schools, churches, businesses and more were ordered to be closed. Masks were mandatory, and social distancing, quarantining, and contact tracing were required. When a new type of vaccine (mRNA) was quickly developed for COVID-19, many Americans were required to obtain a number of doses—or submit to weekly testing—or they would lose their jobs. Colleges required students to get the COVID-19 shots to return to campus. "Vaccine passports" were required to enter certain places. Some questioned the safety of this new type of vaccine. Over time, it was found that people who got the vaccine could still contract and spread the virus. New variants of the virus emerged. What do you think? Are COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other restrictions constitutional? Is there a difference between mask mandates and vaccine mandates? What happens when public health/safety might be at odds with personal liberty? Please share your thoughts and experiences.

The Western Kane County Republican Organization is the largest township organization in Kane County. Along the western edge of Kane County we represent communities as far north as Huntley and as far south as Montgomery including Hampshire, Plato Center, Virgil, Big Rock, Sugar Grove, Elburn, Kaneville, Gilberts, Burlington, Maple Park, Troxel and portions, but not all of Batavia, Geneva, Montgomery, North Aurora, Aurora, St. Charles, Huntley and Elgin.
Our mission is to work for Republican principles of efficient government and cost control at the county, township and local levels. We also work to recruit and elect candidates which we know to be of high competence, integrity and whose belief in our Republican Principles is evident. Our voting members also represent the views and interests of their precinct at annual meetings of the Kane County Republican Organization.
